Description:

Do you want to finally take control of your digital SLR camera?

Want to learn shutter speed, aperture, light metering and all of the technical stuff but to be creative as well?

Come an learn from the professionals and find out why our workshops sell out!

Whether you are an amateur or beginner with a new 'Digi' and you want to take high quality digital images for yourself or work, then this is the course for you. We teach you how to gain full creative control of your digital SLR camera with full manual control.


Digital imaging is the way of the future, due largely to its convenience, cost effectiveness and creative flexibility. We explain the intricacies of the digital world in plain English, leaving you confident with your newly acquired technical and artistic skills. You will leave the course competent to shoot anything from products and portraits to landscapes or whichever genre you choose.

Understanding your digital camera and unravelling your creative ability all at once, you will learn all the fundamentals of this exciting medium.


On Sunday afternoon, on week 5 of your workshop, there is a 3 hour field trip which covers daylight, sunset and night photography in addition to the studio demonstrations and practicals, allowing you to learn as you shoot.

On the final week we examine the best of your imagery in a stunning digital slide show accompanied by music, canapés, champagne, beer, wine and softdrinks where we unwind and say farewell.


This workshop is for students with cameras that have capablity of shooting in manual mode. All course notes and refreshments included in the tuition fee. This is a 'hands-on' practical and fun workshop whether you are new to photography or making the transition from film.

Requirements:

No prior photography knowledge. Not recommended for compact cameras without full manual mode.

  • A digital SLR camera with full manual capability
  • Memory Card(s)
  • Any camera accessories you may have - i.e: tripod, lens hood, etc.
  • Fully charged camera battery and spare if you have one
  • Your cameras manual(s) - for referencing those hard to find features 
  • Any prints or shots you wish to discuss (even those on disk or USB storage device)

Note: A tripod and lens hood are strongly recommended.  If you do not already have these you should consider purchasing them at your earliest convenience as they are an essential part of any good photography kit. Using your SPW Student Discount Card will get you great discounts with our preferred suppliers.
